Basic Tactical Operations Course (Basic SWAT)
Basic Tactical Operations Course is designed to give the new or intermediate tactical officer a sound and comprehensive foundation of knowledge and tactical skills. Upon completion of this course students should be competent in skills which will allow them to operate in a basic tactical environment. This is an intense and physically demanding course. Course objectives are accomplished through classroom presentation and hands on application. This course can range in duration from 5, 7, or 10 days. The curriculum is modified and based upon the requesting agency's operational scope and responsibilities.

- Pre-operational planning and target assessment
- Role of Negotiations in tactical operations
- Barricaded subjects and Slow methodical clearing
- High Risk Warrant Service
- CQB / Dynamic room clearing
- Chemical munitions
- Proper use of Flash Sound Diversionary Devices
- Legal aspect of tactical operations
Barricaded Gunman
This course will introduce and/or enhance the tactical operator's knowledge and experience in responding to and resolving barricaded subject incidents. Course objectives will be accomplished through classroom presentation and practical application. Topics in this course will include, but are not limited to: Defining the Barricaded gunman, the Role of Chemical Agents in Resolving incidents, Slow Methodical Clearing, Dealing with Subjects in Attics, Covering Multiple Threats, Use of Tactical Mirrors & Ballistic Shields.
High Risk Warrant Service
This course will introduce the tactical operator to the methodologies associated with high risk warrant service. The curriculum will cover the concepts related to warrant planning, intelligence gathering, and scouting, as well as breaching, the fundamentals of dynamic room clearing, surround and callout, and the proper deployment of distractionary devices. The course will contain a combination of class room presentation and hands on application.
Slow Methodical Clearing Tactics
This course will teach students to use time tested, slow and slow and deliberate clearing tactics for searching a structure. The use of mirrors, pole cameras, and ballistic shields will be stressed throughout this course.
